Important Overdraft Service Information
What You Need to Know About Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees
New regulations are going into effect which impact your accounts. The regulations apply to all financial institutions. These regulations are often referred to as "REG 'E'" and the focus is on overdraft fees for your electronic transactions. Specifically, your ATM and Debit Card transactions.
When using your Prevail ATM or Prevail Debit Card, your Credit Union stands ready to cover your overdraft and charges a fee when and if an overdraft occurs. Beginning in mid-summer, the regulations go into effect:
Regulation 'E' Effective Dates:
- July 1, 2010 for new accounts
- August 15, 2010 for existing accounts
Prevail Credit Union, to comply with the new regulations, must obtain your authorization to cover overdrafts and charge you a fee.
Whether through the receipt of a letter we mailed to you, or upon opening a new account, please tell us "you want Prevail to authorize and pay overdrafts on your ATM and everyday Debit Card transactions." This provides us with your "opt-in" for coverage and enables us to provide you with overdraft coverage, at a fee, to ensure you are able to complete the transactions you desire, even in the event your account balance does not cover it.
Thank you!
